One of my all-time favourite stories is the famous story of “Footprint in the Sand”. For those who never heard it, please keep reading:
“One night a man had a dream. He dreamed, he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him and the other to the LORD.When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he asked the LORD about it. “LORD, you said that once I decide to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you the most you would leave me.”The LORD replied, “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
Of all the positive emotions and the strength, this story gives, it reminds me and ignites a strange hope that once I will also get a chance to have a heart to heart conversation with my Lord, looking back on this path and the footprints.
A few days back I had an opportunity to know about Anterior Cruciate Ligament not so fondly known as ACL, really interesting part of our body which helps to stabilize our knee joint which when torn gives a loud pop sound (only the person whose ligament is popping can hear 🤪) then it causes pain and instability.
Last night this excruciating pain was keeping me awake, taking my mind everywhere possible to the school playground, college, workplace – in short, all along the path of this life, all these places I have had my fair share of falling, a few physical, some logical, and many emotional.
But, suddenly a blessed assurance flashed through my mind – on that magnificent day, looking back at this short path of life, I will see this very moment as well and I am sure only one set of footprints would be seen – My Lord’s Blessed Footprints I will see! Thinking about this I just smiled and slept off peacefully.
Remember me in your prayers!
God Bless you all!🙂
