In His Image!

Recently I had a crazy incident at a photo studio. I went there to get a passport size photo done. The studio guy was a serious kind of person and he was in a hurry, he asked me to sit, clicked 2, 3 shots and done! I was not ok with the first cut but he said, “madam don’t worry I will make it fine, with this assurance he dragged my picture to the photoshop tool and started his magic clicks. I decided to watch his artistic adventure on my image. All of a sudden my casual t-shirt collar was changed into a shirt and blazer collar. Edited my pimple marks one by one, then my baggy eyes, dark circles, smile lines, nose structure and at last, he tampered with my chocolate complexion.

The last cut was a disappointment to me, I was in a slight shock! firstly my complexion was 5 times lighter so the picture looked 5 times weirder than I am in real. But the whole episode somehow made me praise God and understood God’s creation is perfect!
Genesis 1: 26 -28
Then God said ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth.’ And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

My first response after seeing this photo was “will they accept this as I am looking a lot whiter in this”. He replied, “Madam they are not concerned about all these, they will just scan the eyes for retina detection.”

In his expert photographer attitude and rudeness, he said it so correctly, Not responding to him, I was actually saving his words in my mind.

We are so worried about our outer appearance, today we have advanced tools to alter our appearance and deceive men.

But are we editing our soul from all the uncleanness? Those marks of revenge and hatred, pride swollen, jealousy darkening eyes, cunningness hidden behind those smile lines, that nose which pokes into others business, our colour changing attitude.

Our heavenly Father is not concerned about our outer appearance; neither can we deceive Him with the glam and purity that we photoshop on us. He knows who are we and what are we upto and when He looks into our eyes our “spirit detection” is being done! Rejection or acceptance depends entirely on that report!

That day I returned home and read these verses again:
Mark 11 : 12,13,14
12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.13 seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
