I surrender my ground!

This is a story of a farmer, while he was going to sow the seeds, some seeds fell along the path and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Few fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. He sowed the rest of the seeds in the good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”

This story is a parable told by Jesus ( Mark 4: 3 to 8)

Lot many interpretations are there for this story! The actual one Jesus himself told after few verses.

But, to my surprise, while reading through I started relating to the grounds described here. Amazed of the unique ways our Heavenly Father teaches us!

Identifying the types of grounds:

Unprotected ground – Mostly by the side of the road, without fencing, without protection, boundaries and without any owner. Here if we sow, animals or birds will take it away

Our character should be with boundaries, protected and not so vulnerable to enemy.

Stony Ground – Without enough soil, plant will not have strong and deep root. Water or wind can sway away them quickly.

If the character is not strong and do not have a base then the personality will be weak. Anything can break us – a rejection, a criticism, losing of a loved one or any type of influence.

Thorny Ground – If weeds and thorns are there in the ground they take up all the nutrients needed for the plant and choke it to death.

Allowing anything which is unwanted to get into our character can eventually choke up the personality, it can be any kind of addiction, stress, depression, pride or regret.

Fertile ground – Here the seed gets the proper nutrition, care and protection and the plant grows up to be fruitful

A character well protected and nurtured will help the personality to grow up to be fruitful

He is the most efficient farmer, He chose the most barren and abandoned ground and is preparing it for the sowing.

Fencing – (protection) He made boundaries, He has taken the ownership, protecting and strengthening me day by day.

Ploughing – (Breaking & crushing the stones) His love is softening my stony heart, crushing down stubbornness, presumptions and opening my heart for love, affection and forgiveness.

Weeding – (Removing Weeds) He is removing my hurts, pain, addictions, pride, regrets and everything that was choking me slowly

Even if I fail at times but can see the confidence in His eyes, I surrender my ground to Him, to the most efficient farmer. He is the only one who can bring up a Christlike personality from this barren ground

May God Almighty bless you all with these words!
